I love to read books recommended by friends.  I’m currently reading Four Ways to Click by Amy Banks M.D.  She shares a process that she has developed to help retrain the brain to building more supportive and positive relationships.  The process called C.A.R.E takes advantage of three rules of brain change:

  1. Use it or lose it
  2. Neurons that fire together, wire together
  3. Repetition, repetition, dopamine

She provides a self-assessment tool to let you look at the relationships you have with the five people you spend the most time with.  With a means to measure those five relationships, she then gives you some helpful actions that you can take to improve them.

The final chapters of this book look at ways to maintain your brain, keeping it and your body healthy.  The valuable reminder for me, is that while we can work on keeping our brain fit and healthy, it’s the total picture – your brain and your body that needs attention.  A significant part of this is about building and sustaining healthy relationships in your life.  No one is an island.

What are you reading to give you more information about building and keeping a healthy brain?
